TCP/IP protocols and Port Number

In IP TCP and UDP networks, a port is an endpoint to a logical connection and the way a client program specifies a specific server program on a computer in a network. Some ports have numbers that are preassigned to them and these are known as well-known ports. Other 2 groups are Registered Ports and Private Ports. Private ports are also called dynamical ports. As you probably know port ranges are all ranges between 0 and 65535. Between these 3 groups are port numbers divided. Well-known ports have range between 0 and 1023.
Registered ports have range between 1024 and 49151
And Private ports are not definited and assigned to any applications and they occupied range between 49152 and 65535. IANA (Internet Assigned Numbers Authority) did official designation of TCP and UDP ports numbers. Most common proxy server ports are 3128, 8080, 80 and socks server ports 1080. But proxy can be specified on any other ports.
