Anonymous Surfing Behind Proxies
Public open proxy servers could be useful not only for people
who would to
- anonymous surfing and protect their privacy
- increase speed of surfing because of caching ability
- bypassing country restriction (UAE, Iran etc...)
But also for:
- webmasters
- system administrators
Webmasters
Jack London once said that everything positive has a negative side
and everything negative has positive side.
We did explained positive side of proxy server on main page.
Let's take a look into negative side of proxies.
A lot of people abuse open proxy and use it not for purpose described on main site
but for example fraudulent activity (fraudulent purchases through open proxy), brute forcing HTTP authentication,
to send bulk email, flooding mostly webchats and discussion boards.
Through our up to date public list (format proxy:port + Country) webmasters may eliminate abuse of proxy
on their site and fight against any of these malicious activity from their visitors.
System Administrator
Then is very common for a novice administrator to set up a proxy or HTTP cache with access
rights that allows anyone to connect.
System administrators can take a look inside open public servers to see of
their server is listed or not.
If you find that your proxy socks server listed below were mistakenly left open
then let us know and it will be unlisted from our database.

Truth about PlanetLab/CoDeeN proxy servers
Unlike other proxy site that do not care about they visitors, ProxyBlind is
the first proxy server related site that has started with filtering and warning
users about PlanetLab/CoDeeN servers. Guess Why?
Because all proxies including your own ip address are monitored,
many sites are filtered and very oft appear message warning:
"You are trying to use a node of the CoDeeN CDN Network.
Your IP address is not recognized as a valid PlanetLab address,
so your request rate is being limited.", and furthermore proxies does not support
HTTP protocol post and connect method and very hardly GET and HEAD method.
Good news is that you can get almost all ip addresses that belong to
this project from our forum thread Planetlab/CoDeeN
and do not forget that we advice you to exclude all proxy servers on port 3124 and 3127 because
thats are generally spoken not detected,
but well-known CoDeeN servers (our study proved that 99.9% of all
working servers on ports 68660, 68663, 68664, 3124 and 3127 are PlanetLab/CoDeeN servers).
To confirm our statement about purposeless of using this kind of server see official
CoDeeN statement
where they say that many "respectable" proxy web sites still list PlanetLab/CoDeeN resricted proxies as anonymous
and elite proxy server however they restrict methods that server can use
(no posting, uploading or using SMTP emails is allowed), log all activity
and cooperate with investigations of abuse. Such a proxy site try to post large list and
for inexperienced visitors it looks more impressive to see a large list of proxies.
In reality PlanetLab/CoDeeN are useless server because
of they limitations and restrictions.
Here are two screenshots from two renown proxy site who mislead visitors
by constantly posting useless proxy servers (see how much typical 3124 and 3127 PlanetLab/CoDeeN ports
include their public list):
