Just moved to Okinawa on military orders and I need to get to certain US sites that will not open due to my Japan IP. This is on my personal machine, so there are no USG worries.

Hello guys I'm new here and I'm in dire need of transparent proxies on port 53.

They are the only type of proxies that seem to work with my proxifier and they also help in speeding things up too.

Thanks alot guys, posting only one or two will save lots of money and put smiles on peoples faces.

First of all, college networks are the absolute worst thing to deal with. I'm trying to figure out how to use this FreeCap application, but I have no idea how to use it. I tried using the tutorials, but I also have no idea what my socket and port is that needs to be used for the program as the default proxy. Can anyone direct me in where I can figure out how the hell to use these programs using FreeCap. Thanks for your time.

i just started looking into proxy servers and how they work and how they are being used. so sorry if this is a really dumb question but, what kind of protocols do proxy servers use? i've seen some proxys made specifically for this or that, so does that mean it depends on each proxy?

Hello all,

I am new to this board and proxies in general.
Hope it is ok that my first post is directly dedicated to solve some doubts about charon

As I am new to all this I was testing around tenth of programs related to proxies and found that the one I most like to manage my connections is ProxyFirewall (it has also a integrated proxy checker). I also have several leechers and thought of using charon to test the leeched proxies (I am mainly interested in socks proxies).
Here comes the problem I leach for example a list of what is supposed to be 1000+ socks proxies and pas it into charon, charon tests them and leafs around 50 good ones, I pass them into ProxyFirewall and when I let ProxyFirewall check them again and it shows that almost all ar bad ones, only 1 or 2 are working (from the 50 which charon marked as good).
I know that ProxyFirewall is right because if I test by hand the ones it marks as bad (which according to charon are good), they really are bad and all the ones marked as good by ProxyFirewall are really good.
So is charon simply very bad and unreliable for testing socks proxies or am I doing something wrong (I read proxy blinds charon tutorial and also some on other web pages and thing I am doing everything right).

P.S. Why isn't ProxyFirewall on the proxy blind download list? It's probably one of the best if not the best program for managing proxy connections and it is free?(if there is a better one out there please tell me about it).

A question. I know how to test my browser for annonimity, and I am all set with that, I am trying to find out how to test uTorrent or Vuze. I had a recent list of proxy servers that I hand entered in uTorrent. I expected my download rate to be pretty slow. It was not. I then filled the proxy field with junk... and discovered from the uTorrent forums that if the proxy server does not work, it will just connect however it can. How do I test a program like uTorrent or Vuze to make sure they are only connecting via the proxy server?
Is this possible?
